Compression Molding Process
Compression molding is one of the oldest rubber manufacturing processes. Pre-measured uncured rubber compound is placed in a heated mold cavity, then compressed under high pressure (1000-2000 PSI) until vulcanized. Process steps include pre-form preparation, loading into heated mold, compression under pressure, curing, and demolding. Cost-effective for medium volumes and handles thick cross-sections well.
Usage Example
Large rubber gaskets are manufactured using compression molding because it handles thick cross-sections well and is cost-effective.
